Coping With a Leaking Roof

If your roof is leaking, you may be wondering how to go about coping with it. Here are some tips. First of all, you should try to dry out the water as quickly as possible. Water that does not dry out quickly can lead to mold growth. Also, it is imperative to remove soaked carpet and any other soft furnishings that may have been water damaged. If the leak is extensive, you may need to hire a professional water extraction company. To determine whether you have insurance coverage for leaky roofs, you should contact your insurance agent and explain your situation.

If you cannot get into the loft to see the leak, you should place a tarp or bucket under the affected area. Once the leaky area has been located, make a hole in the ceiling so that water will drain. Doing so will prevent the water from spreading all over the ceiling. Once the water has been soaked up, you can proceed with repairing the roof. Remember, repairing your leaky roof is a major home improvement project. Don’t overlook the need for Roof sealant. Find out more about Roof sealant from a site like CT1.
